The College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Central Agricultural University, Selesih, Aizawl was established in 1998 and has completed 26 years. During these 26 years of existence, the College has progressed a lot. All the departments have fully equipped laboratories to impart best training to the undergraduates, post graduates and to conduct advance research in the field of animal health care and extension education. At present we have M.V.Sc. programme in all 16 disciplines and Ph.D. programme in 9 disciplines. Since establishment, 22 batches of undergraduates (812 B.V.Sc. & A.H. graduates), and 339 M.V.Sc. and 12 Ph.D. postgraduates have rolled out. It is a matter of great satisfaction that all the passed out graduates are either employed, self employed or undergoing higher education in National Institute and Universities in India or aboard. I am happy to note that our students who graduated from this college are undergoing Masters or Doctoral programme elsewhere, have shown excellent performance. The placement record of our passed out Veterinary graduates is very satisfactory. The placement of our passed-out students are: Agricultural Research Scientist (ARS) – 15; Assistant Professor – 47; Civil Servant – 29; Veterinary Officer – 194; Programme Coordinator & Subject Matter Specialist – 14, RVC & CPO – 05 and others (employed in banking sector, farm managers etc.) – 87 while other passed-out students are either private practitioners or pursuing their higher studies. This speaks the dedication of our faculty and the devotion of our students.

The College is developing with a fast pace in terms of excellent infrastructure and facilities, manpower and intake capacity of students. The University is making all possible efforts to fill vacant positions of teaching and non-teaching staff. It should always be remembered that Institutions are not known by the building but are known by their graduates and the teachers and Scientist. Therefore, we have to commit ourselves to the important role that  College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Selesih has to play in improving animal, human and environmental health and animal production  programmes in the North Eastern Hill region in particular and at National and Global level in general.

The development of the College is possible due to the able guidance and blessings of successive Hon’ble Vice-Chancellors and the hard and concerted efforts of the staffs and students. With good infrastructure, a young, dynamic and competent faculty and disciplined students, the college is sure to take the responsibilities and challenges of the future.
