Ongoing Projects under DEE, CAU, Imphal implemented by diff. colleges and KVKs :
RKVY RAFTAAR projects (RABI-Incubation Centres) in 3 colleges viz, College of Fisheries, Tripura; College of Horticulture & Forestry, Pasighat, College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Aizawl, Mizoram. The project is sponsored by Ministry of Africulture and Farmers Welfare, GoI.
Major objectives of the project:
- To achieve “Lab to land” by dissemination of new technology /varieties to farmers through promoting a culture of Agd startups.
- To promote innovation, entrepreneurship and business creation in agriculture and allied sector by skill development, capacity building and technology scale up.
- To create employment opportunities for youth in agriculture in the rural vicinity.
- To promote an integrated approach for technology acquisition, R&D, commercial technology transfer and knowledge dissemination.
- To facilitate evolution of an agri-startup ecosystem by support for cost effective, value added services including technical, legal, financial, intellectual property and regulatory compliance related services to agripreneurs.
- f. To build a vibrant agri-startup ecosystem, by establishing a network between academia, financial institutions, industries and other related institutions.
- Capacity building of existing agri-incubators as R-ABIs to achieve other related objectives.
- To generate/ provide innovative solution to meet local and global agriculture and business challenges, and competitiveness/
Activities of College of Horticulture & Forestry under the project:
- Online Agribusiness Awareness Campaign was conducted on 7th Nov, 2020, through Zoom Meeting App and Facebook Live to sensitize about incubation program. During the campaign, former incubatee who is successful awaredee of Rs. 5 lakhs grant-in-aid, Director GREEN GABLES LLP, Mr.Niku Prasad Sah briefed about his experience in the incubator and highlighted to grab this golden opportunity for Agripreneurs of the region.
- On 23rd October, 2020, CHF R-ABI conducted a webinar to sensitize about Innovation and Agripreneurship Programme under RKVY-RAFTAAR Scheme.
- Due of poor internet connectivity, the people residing in rural areas like Mebo do not get access to the advertisement and opportunity the scheme like RKVY-RAFTAAR has to offer to Innovators and Agri-Horti Startups. CHF R-ABI conducted Outreach program at Mebo Village to raise awareness about RKVY-RAFTAAR Agribusiness Incubation Project. Forty Five (45) Participants starting from 17 years to 72 years participated.

Identification of technologies to be licensed to entrepreneurs per RABI: Technologies identifies are Protein and Fertilizer Supplements made of Meal Worm Poop; Customizable Veg and non-veg pickles with refill option; digital platform for interior flowers, peteals and succulents; Energy Drink made of Elephant Apple; Tibetan Religious incense stick made of locally available aromatic herbs and plants; Agri-tourism; and Agri-Business and Agri-Clinic for Consultancy service on organic farming and selling of agricultural inputs like fertilizers, seeds, platers, tools, etc.

Activities of College of Fisheries, Tripura :
- The foocus area is Agri-allied sectors, which includes Fisheries & Aquaculture, Post-Harvest Technology/ value addition with special emphasis on Fisheries, Agri/Aqua Input, Warehouse Management, ICT in Agriculture, Farmer Services Centre/Aqua Clinics, Dairy, Farm Mechanization etc. The R-ABI incubatee can also get services in Supply Chain Management, Nutrition & Health, and Animal Husbandry etc.The thrust areas of COF R-ABI are:
- Value Added Products from Fish and Fisheries
- Intensive Aquaculture Production Systems
- Quality Seed Production of High Value Fishes
- Fish based Integrated Farming System
Another ₹10 lakhs has been sanctioned to two(2)Idea/pre-seed stage startupsincubated at COF R-ABI andthe first instalment of 60% grant-in aid of ₹ 6 lakhs is due for disbursement.
In order to spread mass awareness about the incubation programme and incubation facilities being available/provided, COF R-ABI actively participated and organized various activities. Participation at “31st Tripura Industries Commerce Fair” Hapania from 29th January to 15th February, 2021. Participated at “Entrepreneurship Exhibition” at TTADC Polytechnic Institute, Khumulung on 18th February, 2021.
Activities of CVSc & AH under the project:
- Three batches of co-hurts were trained for two months duration each for Agripreneurship Orientation Programme (AOP). Twenty five Agripreneurs were trained, mentored and incubated.Five of the incubates/Agripreneurs from this R-ABI centre are selected for pre- stage funding of Rs. 5 lakhs each by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt of India.

And expected more return from coming days with the handing over of trailer, cage wheel, plough, mini rice mill, soybean fermenter, makhana harvester, pineapple harvester, pineapple cutting machine, hand pine apple pealing machine. And from this additional amount shall be utilized as revolving fund under CHC after sometime.

Livestock based Interventions for livelihood Improvement of ST farmers” under NEH component funded by ICAR- IGFRI, Jhasi :
1. KVK, Aizawl:
Awareness cum Training Programme was organised on 24th March, 2021 to detail about the project and also an Online Training Programme was conducted on the topic Improved Fodder Production utilization and conservation technigues for livelihood improvement of Mizoram farmers with the team of Experts from IGFRI. 10 (Ten) selected farmers, 5 Extension Personnel from ATMA, SAMETI, FOCUS, 4 SMSs , Programme Assisstant and Farm Manager of KVK, Aizawl attended this training programme
2. Directorate of Research: Training and input distribution programme was conducted successfully on 22nd and 24th March 2021 at KVK Thoubal and Khapotsangbam of Bishnupur district of Manipur. Shri Kh. Rajmohon Singh, Hon’ble Zilla Parishad Member, Khangabok Zilla Parishad, Manipur grace the programme as special invitees. Key note address on the topic was addressed by Prof. Ratan Kumar Saha, Director of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal highlighted the importance of such NEH programme. He also emphasized the importance and need of fodder for improving animal products in NEH Region. Under this programme, open Scientist-Farmers interaction was held to understand and redress the concerns of farmers. About 140 farmers from different villages under the district of Thoubal, Kakching, Churachandpur and Bishnupur, Manipur were benefited through this training programme. Fodder seed, Fertilizers and Napier hybrid cutting as inputs were distributed to the beneficiaries. “Fodder and Livestock based intervention” in Manipur was also discussed under this programme.

Activities under NEH component funded by ICAR NIBSM NEH programme:
A total of 25 beneficiaries have been selected under the “Backyard Biofloc based Fish farming in Manipur” project sponsored by the NIBSM, Raipur and organized by the Directorate of Extension Education, CAU Imphal. The selected beneficiaries comprised of fish farmers from 22 different blocks belonging to 11 districts of Manipur namely Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, Ukhrul, Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Senapati, Kangpokpi and Chandel. Each of the beneficiaries receives 1 unit (comprising of two Biofloc tanks of 10,000L capacity) inclusive of all accessories and an overhead tank. In addition, inputs such as fish feed and fish seed, probiotics and water testing kits are also given.

DST (KIRAN Division) Sponsored Women Scientist Scheme-B (WOS-B) under S&T Intervention for Societal Benefit
- The project started functioning form Oct 3. 2019 to develop a package of practice for the brood stock management, breeding and marketing of different varieties of Japanese koi carp (Cyprinus carpio) and other indigenous fishes of Manipur, for improving economic status of rural women in Manipur.
- Build aquariums/ fish tanks with locally available resources and involve the local SHGs for marketing
- Introduce the “State fish” “pengba” (Osteobrama belangerii) into the culture along with Japanese koi carp so that the farmers may benefit from both food as well as ornamental fish farming.Biofloc technology: Biofloc (1 unit) was setup at the Central Farm, CAU Lamphelpat with a capacity of 10,000 Litres. Monosex tilapia fry of about 10,000 nos. were purchased from Kolkata and stocked @ 1000 nos in 10,000 L capacity tank in May 2020.
- Around 50 nos. of Trichogaster fasciata from nearby waters were also introduced into the biofloc technology in the month of September 2020. The average weight of the fishes was 2.15 g and average length was 3cm.
- Set up of fish tanks: 6 nos of water tanks each having a capacity of 2000L were designed and prepared to culture koi fishes. The installment of the tanks is in the process.
- Training and dissemination: In collaboration with the DEE, three days training programme was conducted on the topic “Biofloc Based Farming Technology & Fish Health Management’’ to the line department on Dec 19-21, 2019. Similar training was also given to three batches of fish farmers in Manipur on Dec 26-28 2019; Jan 20-22 and Jan 23-25, 2020.

· It was planned that a workshop/seminar will be held at Thenzawl, Serchhip during the month of April, 2020. However, due the COVID-19 situation the program was cancelled. · Training and other programs which was planned earlier were also cancelled due to the pandemic as total lockdown was imposed in Mizoram. · In consultation with Digital India Corporation, New Delhi, during the lockdown, face masks and PPE kits were prepared. A total of 500 face masks were made, out of which 200 face masks were handed to the Thenzawl CodNerc. The Thenzawl Codnerc further distributed these face masks to the quarantine facilities, Thenzawl and to the local weavers. · 10 face masks were given to the Selesih Covid19 police duty, 30 face masks were given to the security guard at CVSC & AH, CAU, Selesih. · 260 face masks were handed over to the staffs of CVSC & AH, CAU, Selesih. |
