REGINAL AGRI FARI, 2020-21 :

Regional Agri Fair (RAF)- 2020-21 was held on 8-10 March, 2021 at Central Agricultural University, Central Farm, Lamphapat, Imphal, Manipur and sponsored by Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Govt. of India. The theme of the fair was Agriculturally Vibrant and Self-Reliant (AVSR: अवसर) NEH Region. All the three days, the whole programmes were in online as well as offline from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. The total nos. of farmer, farm women, and rural youth registered off line was 1671apart from that 200 students and appox. 3000 public visited the fair. The total nos. of online registration 14000 total viewer in Facebook= 6488; in YouTube= 1639. During whole programme COVID-19 protocol and SOP were maintained as per GOI and GOM.

The Regional Agri Fair 2020-21 was co-sponsored by Govt. of Manipur, ICAR- Institute, ICAR-ATARI Zone VI & VII, NEC, NHB, NABARD and CDB. The programme was inaugurated by Shri Narendra Singh Toma, Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Govt. of India as Chief Guest in the presence of Shri N. Biren Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur, Shri Y. Joykumar Singh, Hon’ble Dy. Chief Minister of Manipur, Dr. R. K. Ranjan singh, Hon’ble MP, Lok Sabha (inner Manipur), Shri Lorho S. Pfoze, Hon’ble MP, Lok Sabha (outer Manipur), Dr.  Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, DATE, GOI & Director General, ICAR, New Delhi, Dr. Anupam Mishra, Vice- Chancellor, CAU, Imphal, Dr. Indira Sarangthem, Dean, College of Agriculture, and Dr. R. K. Saha, Organizing Secretary & Director (EE), CAU, Imphal, Manipur.

The CAU Regional Agri Fair 2020-21 include the following programmes:

Interface Sessions/Kisan Gosthi (Total 8):

Session I- Traditional varieties; b) Session II- Farming system; c) Session -III medicinal plants; d) Session- IV- Nutrition aspect of diff. crops and their management; e) Session – V- Fisheries and aquaculture; f) Session- VI- Animal Husbandry; g) Session- VII- Farm innovations related to agri-allied sector; h) Session- VIII- FPOs. A total of 43 experts participated in all the Interface sessions.

Different shows and competition viz., agricultural crops, horticultural crops, flower show processed products, culture fish show, and dog show. 1st, 2nd, 3rd and consolation prizes are given to each category. Live demonstration of different components, viz., vermicomposting, mushroom unit, biofloc technology, integrated fish farming, poultry, crop cafeteria of horticultural crop and agricultural crops, local indigenous crops  were also showcased during the Agri fair.

Farmers’ Science congress 2020-21 – Total no. of presentation both oral and poster made 45 nos. by the progressive farmers of NE-Regions.

Workshops on Bio-control of insect pest sponsored by ICAR-NBIR, Bengaluru.

Award ceremony– State wise best farmers (8 nos.) of NE- Region was awarded during the 14th RAF 20-21.

The CAU- Best Extension Professional Award 2019-20 & 2020-21 and Dr. H. K. Jain Award 2019-20 & 2020-21 were also given to the best extension professionals of CAU and best teacher/researcher of NE-Region, respectively 

Celebration of International Women’s Day 2021– The International women’s day was celebrated as part of CAU-Regional Agri fair, 2020-21 at College of Agriculture, Imphal after the inauguration by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Govt. of India where 82 nos. of Women participated. The participates were farm women, Anganwadi Worker and SMS of KVKs of NE-Region.

Exhibition Stalls: The total nos. of stall present during the three days agri fair were 141 out of which FPO/ NGO/ entrepreneur 93, private company/ corporate, 4 Govt. Institute/ Research Institute/, 15 KVKs. The prizes for best stall, 2nd best and 3rd best stall is given to each category, viz., Govt. institutions, KVK, FPO and private institutions. Companies form outside NE region, viz., Gujarat (MECHAIR), New Delhi (INNOVOIR), Maharastra (FOSS INDIA) is also participated. Govt. institutes, viz., Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, New Delhi; NHB, Assam; ICAR NBAIR, Bengaluru; NRC on Pig, Assam; NRC on Mithun, Nagaland; NRC on Yak, Arunachal Pradesh; MANAGE, Hyderabad; ICAR Manipur Centre; NABARD, Manipur; KVKs of NE region; State lines departs of Manipur; 13 nos. of constituent colleges under CAU across NE region.

Celebration of Internatonal Women’s Day :

International Women’s Day Celebration on the theme : “Women In Leadership: Achieving An Equal Future In A COVID-19 World” was held at the auditorium of College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Iroisemba, , Imphal on 08/03/2021. The program was inaugurated by Shri Atul Jain, General Secretary, DRI, New Delhi, Chief Guest and Ms. Laltanpuee Vanchhong, Director of Agriculture, Govt. of Manipur was the Guest of Honour. Three eminent women personalities of Manipur who are Padma Shree Awardees along with a former minister were felicitated on the auspicious occasion viz. (i) Smt Radhe Devi (Arts-2021) (ii) Smt Oinam Bembem Devi (Sports -2020) (iii) Smt Bombayla Devi Laishram (Sports- 2019) and (iv) Smt. Archana Chitins, Former Minister, Govt of Madhya Pradesh. Poster competitions on the themes (i) Food as a medicine to combat diseases (ii) Nutritious food and Nutri-thalli of North East Region and (iii) Ensuring nutrition of all was also held during the celebration. Best poster awards were given for each of the three themes. There were keynote lecturers delivered by five renowned women personalities. The invited talks were chaired by Ms. Laltanpuee Vanchhong, Director of Agriculture, Govt. of Manipur. The invited talks delivered were:

(iii) Dr. Lalnuntluangi Hmar, Dean, College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Aizawl, Mizoram, Topic: “ Contribution of women in livestock and animal husbandry sector”

(iv) Dr. Raj Lakshmi Tripathi, Prof, Department of food and Nutrition, JM College of Home Science, Jabalpur, Madya Pradesh Topic: “ Nutraceuticals for smart nutrition” and

(v) Dr Hoabam Anandi Devi, Assistant Professor, Hindi Teacher College, DM college campus, Manipur Topic: “ Role of women in the field of Manipuri traditional /folk food and nutrition” .

Altogether 200 participants mostly Faculty, staff, KVK SMSs (Home Science) from Manipur and neighboring states , CDPO’s, Supervisors of Social Welfare Department, Govt of Manipur, Nutritionist, women farmers, Entrepreneurs, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, food industry personnel etc. participated  in the program.

Farmers’ Science Congress

Webinar organized : Webinar on Strategies and Policy Interventions for Agriculture Development in NE, India during Covid 19- Era, was Jointly organized by Directorate of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal and All India Agricultural Student Association , New Delhi during 13-14, June, 2020. The programme was inauguration by Hon’ble M.P. Dr. R.K. Ranjan

Workshop organized: Workshop on Bio-control of insect pest sponsored by ICAR-NBAIR, Bengaluru was organized by the Directorate during Marc 9-10, 2021 at College of Food Technology, Imphal. Resource Person from ICAR NBAIR participated in the workshop along with 49 nos. of participants from NE states.

Another, 2 nos. of Workshop on biocontrol of insect Pest sponsored by ICAR- NBIAR, Bengaluru was also organized at College of Horticulture and Forestry, Pasihgat, Arunachal Pradesh and College of Agril. Engg. And Post Harvest Technology, Ranipool, Sikkim during 8/9/2021 and 11/12/2021respectively.
