Celebration of World Food Day 2021 at CAEPHT, Ranipool, Gangtok, Sikkim
The College of Agricutlural Engineering and Post Harvest Technology, Ranipool celebrated 76thWold Food day on 16th October, 2021 on vertual platform. Dr. Prashant P. Said, Assistant Professor and Dr. RakeshK. Raigar, Assistant Professor were the convenier of the programme. The celebration started with lightening of lamp and saraswati vandana followed by introduction about World Food Day and theme video by World Health Organization. Prof. Pradyuman Kumar, Professor, Department of Food Engineering and Technology, Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology (SLIET),Longowal (Punjab), delivered keynote speech on “Nutritious Foods for Health”. He also discussed the neutraceutical benefits of the locally available fruits and vegetables like Indian goosberry, mango, noni (super fruits), olive, garlic and onion. Prof. P. P. Dabral, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Post Harvest Technology, Ranipool chaired the programme. He appricated the efforts of food heros (farmers) and asked participants not to forget their contribution in food security. He also stressed to avoid the wastage of food. More than 70 participants (Students, faculty and staff) from CAEPHT Ranipool , COH Bermiok and other universities graced the function and participated in the discussion.
