Message from the Dean’s Desk
Dr. I Shakuntala
I am delighted to share the remarkable journey of the College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry at Jalukie, nestled in the serene landscapes of Peren district, Nagaland. Established in 2016 as a proud constituent of CAU, Imphal, our college has made significant strides in advancing veterinary education.
Our undergraduate program, Bachelor in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.), a 5 and ½ year professional course, caters to the educational needs of 30 bright minds annually. Twenty-five of these students are nominees from seven states of North East India, while the remaining five seats are allocated based on NEET scores by VCI, drawing talent from across the country. Our faculty, hailing from diverse corners of the nation, spearheads education and research across 17 specialized departments. These departments have facilities, meeting the stringent requirements outlined in the MSVE 2016 guidelines set by VCI.
Beyond academic prowess, our college is committed to fostering impactful research and extension activities. Numerous externally funded projects, alongside university-funded initiatives, underscore our dedication to advancing knowledge and community engagement. Our dynamic faculty, brimming with potential, is a cornerstone of our success, nurturing the next generation of veterinary professionals.
In our endeavor to serve society, we conduct regular extension activities, providing hands-on training to state veterinary doctors, paravet staff, and farmers. By adopting villages, we aim to uplift the socio-economic fabric through enhanced agricultural and livestock practices. Our free animal health vaccination camps, led by expert faculty and students, are instrumental in promoting animal welfare and combating zoonotic diseases in remote communities. In addition to the services provided at our veterinary hospital, our ambulatory clinics regularly journey to remote villages, offering aid to farmers in need.
Amidst our greenery campus, enriched with natural beauty, lays an environment conducive to holistic learning. The friendly bond between faculty and students fosters an atmosphere of mutual respect and collaboration, nurturing academic excellence and personal growth.
As we rejoice in the accomplishments of three graduating batches and see many more students pursuing further education in renowned institutions across the country, my optimism for the future soars. Guided by the visionary leadership of our dynamic Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. Anupam Mishra, I am dedicated to guiding this college to even greater heights of excellence in veterinary education, proudly serving our university and nation.
Let’s embark together on a journey towards a brighter future, fuelled by wisdom, empathy, and dedication to others.
