About CH Thenzawl
College of Horticulture, Thenzawl, one of the constituent colleges of Central Agricultural University, Imphal was founded on 18th June, 2016 by the then Hon’ble Union Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Minister Shri. Radha Mohan Singh. The College is located at Thenzawl town of Mizoram which is 90 km (56 miles) from Aizawl, the capital of the state. Thenzawl town situated at the heart of Mizoram in Serchhip District is one of the best tourist attractions in the state and is also the handloom hub of the state.
At present, UG programme in Horticulture is offered by the college with intake capacity of 32 students. The College has achieved remarkable progress in teaching, research and extension programmes since its inception.
The College imparts education in different branches of Horticulture and its allied sciences. The College of Horticulture started its first flagship academic programme i.e., 4 year B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture programme from academic session 2016-17 with intake capacity of 22 students. The course curriculum of B.Sc. (Hons.)Horticulture degree programme has been prepared as per the 5th Dean Committee of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi.
The College has well equipped classrooms, laboratories and research farms. The College organizes co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for the overall development of students’ personality and career. The College has excellent and highly qualified faculty members, involved in teaching, research and extension. Moreover, they act as mentors for supporting young students on their professional and personal front as well. Apart from delivering excellent academic content and development of skills through practical experiences, the students are encouraged to develop interpersonal skills through interaction with knowledgeable resource persons.
