The CAU, Imphal inaugurated a two-day National Workshop on “Cow Management and Innovation (गो प्रबंधन एवं नवाचार)” on 16 July 2026 at CPGSAS, Umiam

The Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, through the College of Post Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences (CPGS-AS), Umiam, inaugurated a two-day National Workshop on “Cow Management and Innovation (गो प्रबंधन एवं नवाचार)” on 16 July 2026. The workshop aims to promote sustainable livestock management, conservation of indigenous cattle, natural farming, and scientific innovation through collaboration among researchers, academicians, policymakers, and farmers. The inaugural programme was graced by Shri H.H. Adrushya Kadsiddheshwar Swamiji, 49th Mathadhipati, Shri Kshetra Siddhagiri Mahasansthan, Kaneri, Maharashtra, as the Chief Guest, and presided over by Dr. Anupam Mishra, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal. Other distinguished dignitaries included Dr. Arun Kumar Sarma, Director General, NECTAR; Dr. Niranjan Kalita, Vice-Chancellor, Assam Veterinary and Fishery University; Dr. K. M. Bujarbaruah, Former Vice-Chancellor, Assam Agricultural University; Dr. G. Kadirvel, Director, ICAR-NEH Region; Shri Dinesh Kumar Tiwari, Shri Surya Kant Jalan, Shri Ullas Kulkarni, and Prof. D. Thakuria, Dean, CPGS-AS, Umiam.

Welcoming the gathering, Prof. D. Thakuria described the workshop as a platform to strengthen scientific innovation and indigenous knowledge for sustainable development. In his presidential address, Dr. Anupam Mishra emphasized CAU’s commitment to research, innovation, and the promotion of cow-based sustainable agriculture for achieving Viksit Bharat 2047. Shri H.H. Adrushya Kadsiddheshwar Swamiji highlighted the ecological, cultural, and economic significance of indigenous cattle and called for scientific validation of traditional practices. Dr. Arun Kumar Sarma, Dr. Niranjan Kalita, Dr. K. M. Bujarbaruah, Shri Ullas Kulkarni, Shri Surya Kant Jalan, and Shri Dinesh Kumar Tiwari stressed technology-driven livestock development, conservation of indigenous breeds, youth participation, and collaborative research to strengthen sustainable agriculture and rural livelihoods.
