 Nationwide campaign titled “Khet Bachao Abhiyan” programme was graced by Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Hon’ble Union Agriculture Minister

On dated 31.05.26, Constituent Colleges of CAU Imphal participated virtually in an intensive nationwide campaign titled “Khet Bachao Abhiyan,” which will be conducted across the country from June 1–30, 2026. The virtual programme was graced by Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, hon’ble Union Agriculture Minister along with the hon’ble Director General (DG) ICAR and Secretary DARE, Dr. M. L. Jat, Dr. Rajbir Singh Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), Dr D K Yadav, Deputy Director General (Crop Science), ICAR officials, and officers from different states and Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, CAU, Imphal, Dr. Anupam Mishra, Central Agricultural University, Imphal and officials of kvks and officials of different states and other Central Agricultural University as well as bankers.  The programme was also virtually attended by Prof. Ram Singh, Dean, College of Agriculture, Kyrdemkulai, along with all faculty members of the college.  The programme commenced with an address by DG ICAR and Secretary DARE; Dr. M. L. Jat, who presented an overview of the “Khet Bachao Abhiyan.” This was followed by DDG Agriculture Extension who made comprehensive presentation and DDG Crop Science, DDG, NRM who elaborated on the objectives and implementation strategy of the nationwide campaign. During the programme, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, CAU, Imphal , Dr. Anupam Mishra highlighted the initiatives already undertaken by the constituent colleges of Central Agricultural University Imphal through press conferences and awareness activities aimed at conserving water and soil resources and enhancing nutrient use efficiency. The campaign aims to create awareness among farmers regarding soil testing-based judicious and balanced use of fertilizers and other agricultural inputs, including green manures, organic products, and bio-products. The programme also emphasized reducing the excessive use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and improving overall soil health. Vote of thanks served by Dr Roy, ADG, Extn Edu, ICAR, New Delhi
