The College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry Jalukie, Peren, Nagaland, a constituent college of Central Agricultural University, Imphal began in 2016.  The college is playing an active part in North-Eastern hill states of India by imparting quality veterinary education, training and developing entrepreneurship skills to the students. The role of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry is taking responsibility to maintain the health of all kind of animals, improving productivity of livestock products, prevent the occurrence of zoonoses which is transmitted from animals to humans, conservation of ecosystem through the protection of wild animals and ensuring food hygiene to promote public health.

The vision of the college is to create a centre for excellence in teaching, research and extension education in veterinary sciences and animal husbandry as per need of the North eastern hill states of India through promotion of animal health, alleviation of animal suffering, efficient and responsible animal production, conservation of native breeds; ecological resources, and protection of public health. The aim of the research activities of the college is to develop need based, sustainable, eco-friendly technologies/practices/and equipments in the field which can bring about an impact on productivity and profitability of animals and poultry as well as new products for value addition, enhance income generation and in turn the socio economic upliftment of the people of North eastern hill region.

The college has 17 departments equipped with the required infrastructural facilities as per the MSVE regulations 2016 of the Veterinary Council of India. The departments are actively involve in teaching, research and extension education activities. The college provides diagnostic services, health care, vaccination, disseminates scientific knowledge to the farming communities and makes continuous efforts for popularization of modern innovative and sustainable animal husbandry and poultry farming as well as other agricultural practices. Among one of the newly established colleges in the country, the college is moving towards realization of its full potential. I am sure that dynamic, competent faculty/scientists and highly aspirant, hard working students, the college will achieve its goal inspite of all the challenges.
