Inaugural function of the 15th Research Council Meeting, 11th Extension Education Council Meeting and 33rd Academic Council Meeting of CAU, Imphal

The inaugural function of the 15th Research Council Meeting, 11th Extension Education Council Meeting and 33rd Academic Council Meeting of Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal was held on 22 June 2026 at the Auditorium of the College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Selesih, Aizawl.

The programme commenced with the arrival of General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Prior to the inaugural session, the Chief Guest visited the exhibition showcasing technologies, innovations and products developed by the University and its constituent colleges.

The formal programme began with the National Song followed by the National Anthem. The University Song was then presented by the students. The Chief Guest was felicitated, after which Dr. Anupam Mishra, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal delivered the welcome address.

During the function, a Technology License Agreement document was formally handed over between Prime Meghalaya and the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency, Meghalaya. The Chief Guest also released University publications and Comilla Cotton Meditech products and distributed lavender seeds to farmers.

In his address, the Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram appreciated the efforts of CAU in advancing agricultural education, research and extension services in the North Eastern Region and encouraged greater collaboration for sustainable agricultural development.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Prof. K. Mamocha Singh, Director of Research, CAU, followed by the National Anthem.

The inaugural function was attended by distinguished academicians, scientists and administrators, including Prof. Pravat Kumar Roul, Vice-Chancellor, OUAT, Bhubaneswar; Prof. M.M. Adhikary, Former Vice-Chancellor, BCKV, West Bengal; Dr. K.M. Bujarbaruah, Former Vice-Chancellor, AAU; Dr. P. Das, Former DDG, ICAR; Dr. S.V. Ngachan, Former Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region; Dr. Gaya Prasad, Former ADG (Animal Health); Dr. Mamoni Das, Dean, College of Community Science, AAU; Prof. L.M. Garnayak, Former Director of Research, CAU, Imphal; along with all Deans and officials from the thirteen constituent colleges of CAU.
