he 27th College Foundation Day Celebration of the College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry (C.V.Sc. & A.H.), CAU, Selesih, was held on 10th November 2025, coinciding with the Inauguration of the Pesticide Residue Analysis Laboratory.
The function was graced by Pu Lalduhoma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Mizoram, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Anupam Mishra, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, presided over the programme. The Guests of Honour were Pu C. Lalsawivunga, Hon’ble Minister for Animal Husbandry & Veterinary and Horticulture; Pu P.C. Vanlalruata, Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Government of Mizoram; Dr. A.C. Varshney, Former Vice-Chancellor, DUVASU, Mathura (U.P.); and Dr. Vandana Tripathy, Network Coordinator, All India Network Project on Pesticide Residues and Contaminants.
The celebration commenced with a plantation programme led by the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour, followed by the inauguration of the Pesticide Residue Analysis Laboratory, a modern facility dedicated to strengthening food safety and quality control through advanced pesticide residue testing. A cultural procession by students and faculty, and a visit to exhibition stalls showcasing innovations, research outcomes, and entrepreneurial ventures added vibrancy to the occasion. In the auditorium programme, Dr. Lalnuntluangi Hmar, Dean, C.V.Sc. & A.H., welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the college’s achievements over the past 27 years. This was followed by insightful addresses from Dr. A.C. Varshney and Dr. Vandana Tripathy, emphasizing academic excellence, research, and the importance of laboratory-based surveillance in agriculture. The event also witnessed the release of a book (Textbook of General & Systemic Veterinary Medicine) and a PRRS diagnostic kit, along with the distribution of Start-Up Funds under RKVY: RAFTAAR. Addresses by Pu P.C. Vanlalruata and Pu C. Lalsawivunga praised the institution’s role in promoting sustainable agriculture and livestock development in Mizoram. In his address, Pu Lalduhoma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Mizoram, congratulated the college on its 27th Foundation Day and the establishment of the new laboratory. He commended the institution’s contributions to veterinary education, research, and community service, emphasizing the importance of food safety, innovation, and youth engagement in agricultural progress. The programme concluded with the Presidential Address by Dr. Anupam Mishra, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal, who expressed gratitude to all guests and reaffirmed CAU’s dedication to excellence in education, research, and regional development.
