Dr. Mangi Lal Jat, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR), inaugurated the Live Demonstration and Exhibition organized as part of the National Conclave on “Weaving India Together: Natural Fibres, Innovation and Livelihoods from the North East and Beyond.” The exhibition showcased the creativity and craftsmanship of 75 artisans, weavers, and entrepreneurs from the North East and other regions of India, reflecting the nation’s rich cultural and natural fibre diversity.
The National Conclave on “Weaving India Together: Natural Fibres, Innovation and Livelihoods from the North East and Beyond” was inaugurated today in a grand ceremony graced by Shri Kiren Rijiju, Hon’ble Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Minority Affairs, as the Chief Guest. The event also featured Dr. Rajbir Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR; Shri Atul Jain, Vice Chairman, Deendayal Research Institute (DRI), New Delhi; and Dr. Mridula Thakur Pradhan, Chairperson, Vikas Foundation Trust, as Guests of Honour.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the students of the College of Community Science (CAU-I), Tura organised a cleanliness drive under the campaign “Swachhata Hi Seva” on 2nd October to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of cleanliness and sanitation. A total of 82 students, along with faculty members and volunteers, participated enthusiastically. The programme began with a short speech on Gandhiji’s vision of a clean India, followed by group-wise cleaning activities in the campus and nearby surroundings, including the multipurpose shed, college garage and nursery-school garden. The event encouraged responsibility, teamwork and reinforced Gandhiji’s message that “Cleanliness is next to Godliness.”
