Message from the Desk of Director
The Directorate of Instruction was established in 2005 in accordance with the Central Agricultural University Act, 1992 (No.40 Of 1992)
wherein the Director of Instruction is responsible for planning, co-ordination and supervision for all educational programmes in the various faculties
of the University. The Directorate strives for quality improvement of education hence its various functions includes planning and academic coordination
for teaching, quality of education, policy matters and system regarding resident instruction, overseeing the examination and evaluation, development and
enforcement of curricula, development of educational technology and teachers’ training programmeto develop competence and qualified human resource, HRD
of faculty, collaboration with national and international universities/institutes for academic excellence etc. Falling in line with the policies of the
University and ICAR, the curricula and syllabi are revised periodically. Revision of syllabus and introduction of new courses are done based on the emerging
needs. Special coaching programmes are arranged in all the constituent colleges to facilitate good performance of students in the annual NET/JRF/GATE/ARS and
other national level examinations.
Well-being is an important element for students to consider as they work toward successful completion of their academic journey. The universityoffers a holistic,
interdisciplinary approach to student wellness providing services that address the physical, intellectual, spiritual and emotional needs of students. A separate
cell for co-curricular activities was opened in the Directorate of Instruction w.e.f. 1st November, 2013 which encourages student participation in all aspects of
campus life. The directorate organizes Annual Student Advisory Council Meeting wherein student representatives from all constituent college of CAU, Imphal has
discussion with the competent authority and senior officers of the university about student welfare related issues and necessary solutions chalked out for further
The constituent colleges organizes co-curricular activities in the form of annual college week, sports & games and social/cultural meets. To provide a common
platform for the students of constituent colleges located in different states of the region, the University organizes annual Inter-Collegiate Games & Sports
Meet and Youth Festivals on shifting venue basis. The university also participates in the All India ICAR Inter Agricultural Universities Games and Sports Meet
(s), All India University Tournaments and Championships as well as AIU Youth Festivals and ICAR Youth Festivals etc. It also organized the 13th and 14thNational
Youth Parliament Competitions held under the Ministry Of Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of India at College Of Agriculture, Imphal and College of Agricultural
Engineering & Post Harvest Technology, Ranipool, Sikkim respectively. All constituent colleges of the university organizes Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan programme to
create awareness among the CAU community, the sense of sanitation, hygiene and healthy living in tune with clean environment. It also organizes International
Day of Yoga to inculcate the students, a sense of nationalism through different community services. Further, it also has National Social Service (NSS) activities
monitored by NSS cells in all the constituent colleges and organizes programmes like blood donation, tree plantation, water harvesting, sanitation, health and hygiene
activities, eco-environmental conservation and preservation etc. It organizes animal health camps, field visits, seminar on stress management, communal harmony
weeks with poster campaigns and other community service related activities on regular intervals. The directorate also promotes the conduct of soft skills and
personality development programmes for the students.

☛ Milestones in Education and Student Activities
Since its inception, the University has produced 2328 graduates, 765 post-graduates and 15 Ph.Ds, out of which 102 passed out students are working as
Agricultural Research Scientists (ARS). Number of passed out students employed in government sectors and private sectors are 1691 and 269, respectively
which constitutes 73% and 12% respectively. Moreover, 190 passed out students are settled in the occupation of agriculture and allied subjects. Students
of the university have been performing excellence in JRF Exam conducted by ICAR, New Delhi and secured:
i) 2nd position twice (during 2012 and 2014) in All India Ranking in ICAR-JRF examination and also
ii) 2nd position in ICAR-Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) Award for the year 2016 under the programme category of Horticulture and Forestry.
iii) 1st Position in March past in the 5th ICAR Inter University Sports & Meet held at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Punjab in the year 2006
iv) 1st Position in Group song, 2ndPosition in Rangoli, 3rd Position in in Group dance, 4th Position in Solo Song in the 16th AIICAR Youth Festival
held at Orissa University of Agricultural Technology, Bhubneswar, Odisha in the year 2016
v) 1st Position in Collage and 2nd Position in Quiz in the 17th AIICAR Youth Festival held at Rajasthan University of Veterinary Sciences,
Bikaner, and Rajasthan in the year 2017.
vi) 2nd Position in Quiz in the 18th All India ICAR AGRIUNIFEST held at Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh in the year 2018.
